14 hours after the concert, I’m finally back at school! This concert was no ordinary walk in the park. In fact, it was quite the opposite. So I want to thank everyone who contributed to my not-being-mugged, because I only knew a couple of things going into this ordeal:
1) It was in Philly.
2) Kina was playing.
3) I was going.
So I’ll skip all the drama of getting there and getting back, but the following went down at the concert:
1)Imaginary Friend comes out, and I call out “JESSE!” Because we’re on a first-name basis here.
2) He plays some really cool music.
3) Kina comes out, and my heart is about to fail.
4) She starts to play World In Front of Me, and I stare at her.
5) She stares back.
6) We have a moment. Like where we connect. Like really deeply.
7) She sings the rest of her lovely set.
8) She ends with Message From Your Heart
9) I ‘bum bum bum’ my lungs out for her.
10) She smiles at me some more.
11) She leaves, but I yell ENCORE!
12) She comes back out. Just for me, you know.
13) She sings Fix You with Keith on cello and Jesse on backup.
14) 3. Part. Harmonies.
15) She leaves, and I get sad.
15) We buy merch, and get free jelly beans! Picked up a “Kinerd.” shirt.
16) We get in line to meet her, and I practice what I’m going to say, how to smile, etc.
17) I meet her, and forget what social skills are.
18) Got a picture with her, and she signed my guitar! After I showed her that she signed my guitar strap last year, which isn’t creepy at all. And a poster.
19) Left and felt sad.
20) Still feel sad.
And kids, that’s how I met your mother.
Quite absurd, indeed…
In other news, her concert is in 5 weeks!
Shoutout to my friend Sarah for giving me the idea to cover ALL of Stairwells! I mean, I was going to sooner or later, but I guess not in order. Yes even the bonus tracks. Genius.
Anyways, to celebrate the arrival of my new mic, Kina Grannis hoodie, and poster, I’ve decided to go through with this Stairwell Series. Catchy, right? First up, Track 1, World in Front of Me.
I hope I can make it to Valentine in the next 21 days….
Today, my Blue Snowball Mic (the one that Kina Grannis used to use), Kina Grannis Hoodie, and Kina Grannis “World In Front of Me” Tour Poster, all from different shipments, arrived in the mail. AT THE SAME TIME.
Today, I only had one class.
THE DAY IS MINE.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
